Adding Modifying & Removing Libraries

    Follow

I want to add a new Moderated library:

Options > Add New Library > Create New Library

In the dialogue box, specify a library name. This will be the name that appears in the library tree so don’t make it too long or complicated

Set the library type to ‘Approved’

Choose a location on your server where you intend to store the data. Note the screenshot below shows a file path which doesn’t include the Library Name. Content Studio will create this as a subfolder when you click Create,

Click create to add the new shared library.  Note: All staff will be able to see this kind of library and will be able to submit content for approval into it.

I want to add a new Project library:

Options > Add New Library > Create New Library

Same as the notes above but set the library type to ‘Open’ and click create.

Note: Project libraries are only visible to the person who creates them.  If you wish to share these with a select few people then you must email the specified users with the file path and they must follow the steps outlined below:

I want to add an existing Project library:

Options > Add New Library > Add Existing Library

Set the Library Type as ‘Open’
Browse to the location of the project library data store and select the revitClib.xml
Click create to add the shared library to your tree view.

Note: All content in a project library is auto approved. There is no moderation process as content on a project needs to be instantly accessible and is more fluid than a moderated library.

I want to convert a Project library or a Moderated library to a Reference (read only) library:

    To remove the library…

    Options > Delete Library
Select the library you wish to delete from the tree view (this will not delete the data stored on the network).
    Press delete

To add the library as read only…

Options > Add New Library > Add Existing Library
    Check the ‘Read Only’ box
Click browse to locate the revitClib.xml for the existing project library.

I want to delete a library:

    Options > Delete Library
Select the library you wish to delete from the tree view (this will not delete the data stored on the network).
    Press delete

I want to share a group:

Currently it is not possible to share groups in Content Studio.  You can however share the xml file which contains the group information using the process noted below:

Open windows explorer and browse to C:\users\<your user name>\app data\local\cs\ and find the group which you have created on your local PC.  Copy this into an email and send it to your colleagues.

When the recipient(s) receive this file, they should place it in the same place on their PC.  If Content Studio is running, they should close it and reopen it in order to see the new group appear.
